Texas on my mind
Hello dear subscribers,
Thank you so much for the warm response to my latest piece on Pride, and for generally being so supportive of my writing here. I really value having this space in which to speak my mind, and I also value you.
Tomorrow I’m off to Texas for a week, to do some teaching for a new university focused on free expression, the University of Austin Texas (you can read more about this venture here). I’ll be doing a philosophy mini-course on varieties of feminism - from liberal to radical to post-structuralist to intersectional to post-liberal - and there will be lots of controversies for students to explore. I’m looking forward to doing some teaching again - it’s been a while. And I’m sure I will be writing about this experience later.
Madly prepping for this trip means I’m slightly behind on my writing schedule, though I hope to have something substantial for you soon. Many apologies for the delay. In the meantime I thought I’d draw your attention to some other writing I’ve done lately, for other outlets, which you also might enjoy. Most of these are from UnHerd where I am also a columnist, but a couple are from elsewhere.
UnHerd April 12th, Five Rules for Fighting Transactivism
UnHerd April 20th, You Can’t Police Offence
The Times, May 3rd, Different by Frans de Waal review — what apes can teach us about sex.
